Tapfind privacy policy
Last updated: 2026-09-16
The short version: Tapfind reads the apps on this phone, and your contacts if you turn Contacts on, to find them from a keypad. None of it leaves this phone. There is no account, no sign-in, no analytics, no ads and no tracking.
Who we are
Tapfind is made by Able Innovation Sweden AB (org.nr 556808-1789), Linköping, Sweden. Our company privacy policy is at ableinnovation.com/privacy.html. This page says what Tapfind, the app, does with data. Where the two differ, this page is the one that applies to Tapfind.
What Tapfind reads on this phone
Installed apps. Tapfind reads the names and icons of the apps on this phone that can be opened from a launcher. It needs no permission for this. Android shows Tapfind only those apps, not every app on the phone.
Contacts, only if you turn Contacts on. Contacts is off when you install Tapfind. If you turn it on in Settings, Tapfind explains what it reads and why, and then Android asks for the contacts permission. With the permission, Tapfind reads your contacts' names, nicknames, organizations, phone numbers and photos to find them from the keypad. A tap opens the dialer with the number. Tapfind never calls by itself.
Contacts are read on this phone each time Tapfind starts. Names, numbers and photos are never saved to a file. Only which contacts you open from Tapfind, and which you hide, is remembered, as an id, on this phone. If you turn Contacts off, or take the permission away, Tapfind forgets those at once.
With the contacts permission denied, Tapfind still finds and opens apps. Nothing else changes.
Shortcuts. If you turn Shortcuts on, Tapfind reads the shortcuts that installed apps declare, such as "New tab" or "New message", so that you can open one from the keypad. This is public information every app publishes. It needs no permission.
Which apps, contacts and shortcuts you open, and when. Tapfind remembers, for each one, when you last opened it, how many times, and at which times of the day and week. This is what puts the ones you use first. It stays on this phone.
Where the data goes
Nowhere. Tapfind does not send any of the above anywhere. It has no server. It does not use analytics, crash reporting, advertising or tracking of any kind, and it does not read the phone's own usage statistics.
Tapfind tells Android to leave its files out of cloud backup and out of phone-to-phone transfer. What Tapfind remembers on one phone never travels to another by itself.
What rests on this phone, and where
Everything Tapfind keeps is in its own private storage on this phone, in the folder Android gives it that no backup reads. In plain words, the files hold:
- the list of apps that can be opened, so the keypad shows at once when Tapfind starts
- the shortcuts each app declares, if Shortcuts is on
- which apps, contacts and shortcuts you have opened, when, and how often
- which apps, contacts and shortcuts you have hidden, as ids
- your settings: the switches in Settings, and whether you have added a way to open Tapfind
- one small file that says only that Tapfind Pro is confirmed, if you have bought it.
None of these files holds a contact's name, number or photo. What Tapfind remembers about a contact is stored under the id Android gives that contact, not the contact itself.
How long it stays, and how to delete it
It stays until you delete it. Deleting an app, a contact or a shortcut from the phone deletes what Tapfind remembered about it the next time Tapfind starts. Turning Contacts off deletes everything Tapfind remembered about contacts. Turning Shortcuts off deletes everything it remembered about shortcuts.
To delete everything at once, open Android's Settings, then Apps, then Tapfind, then Storage, and tap Clear storage. Some phones name these screens differently. Uninstalling Tapfind deletes all of it too. Tapfind keeps no copy anywhere else, so there is nothing further to delete.
The Settings file
In Settings, under Save and load, you can save your settings and your hidden lists to a file you choose, and load such a file later, on this phone or another. Only your own tap makes or reads this file. Tapfind never uploads it. The file holds your switches and the ids of what you have hidden, not names, and never what you have opened or when.
Tapfind Pro and Google Play
Tapfind Pro is bought once through Google Play. Google Play takes the payment, keeps the order and the receipt, and knows which Google account bought it. Tapfind never sees your payment details. Google's handling of a purchase is under Google's privacy policy, not this one.
Tapfind asks Google Play whether this phone's Google account owns Pro, and keeps only the answer, "Pro confirmed", in one file on this phone. It keeps no purchase token, no order id and no account name. Tapfind sends Google Play nothing else.
Handing data to another app
Some taps hand one thing to another app, at your own act and nowhere else: a phone number to the dialer or the messages app, a number to the clipboard when you tap Copy number, an app's name to the Play Store page or to the system uninstaller when you ask for those, a contact to the Contacts app when you open or edit it. Once there, that app's own policy applies.
No account, no sign-in
Tapfind has no account and no sign-in. It does not ask who you are.
Children
Tapfind is not directed at children. On Google Play its target audience is 18 and over. Tapfind collects no personal data from anyone, of any age.
Your rights
Tapfind holds no personal data about you anywhere but on this phone, in your hands. Under the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) you have the right to access, correct, export and delete personal data concerning you, and to lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority, in Sweden the Swedish Authority for Privacy Protection (IMY). For Tapfind, access and deletion are the steps above; there is nothing we could send you or delete for you, because we hold nothing.
